Evolution of Embellishment

I've posted a couple of grab boxes for sale HERE, if you are interested.

Cards sometimes evolve. I have an idea that almost works, so the design gets tweaked until it does work. Today's card had a very basic design with no need for improvement, but the embellishment needed to evolve a little from the original idea.

Here's the first version, which used dots of Smooch to embellish the tree.

Here's a close-up of the shimmery goodness of the Smooch.

Now, there was nothing wrong with this card, but it felt--and looked--a little flat. So I kicked it up a notch with rhinestones. Because bling makes everything better!

That little touch of dimension with seven carefully placed rhinestones really livens up the card, don't you think?

And yes, it took me ten minutes to decide how to place the rhinestones. I have issues.

stamps: Hero Arts
ink: Memento
paper: Papertrey Ink
accessories: Smooch, rhinestones, Copic marker to color them, corner rounder

  1. The rhinestones are nice, they give the card a little extra. So, great add!

  2. 10 minutes . . . is that all? Really - it would take me much longer -- can't tell you how long it takes me to make a card -- sometimes hours -- frequently redoing it -- but I enjoy the process - and that is why I do it :)

  3. The first card was perfectly fine, then you just kept making it better. When I'm in a hurry I'll take a cue from the first card. When I have 30 extra minutes to figure out placement of the rhinestones, I'll make the 3rd card. ;-) I have issues like that, too, but you've done the work for me, although I'll have to make some decisions on my own since I don't have this stamp. At least you've pointed me in the right direction.

  4. I agree that the sequins added some nice dimension to your card. And I totally understand the time it took to decide the placement :)

  5. This is so sweet and cute - love the bling!

  6. Ah, perfect bling placement. It does add so much, especially on a really CAS card where it can be the star of the show.

Thank you so much for taking time to comment!
