A Story about Men and Measuring Tape

Once upon a time (last week), I made this card.

When I finished it, I was so happy. It's fresh, it's clean (look at all that white space!), and it makes Yo-Yo Yellow look awesome (which is quite an accomplishment, don't you think?).

As I was editing the photo of it on my computer a few days ago, my husband walked by.

"Check out this cool card I made!" I said.

He stared at it for a minute. "'It's been too long. Too long." And he dissolved into giggles.

I rolled my eyes and said, "Five inches isn't too long for that."

So he said, "True. Do you know why women can't guess how long things are?"

"Why?"

"Because they've always been told that this [holds hands five inches apart] is ten inches."

And now this card is ruined for me.

The end.

  9. Ah yes, takes a man...

I really like it: the white space, the sunny yellow, the clever sentiment.

  10. Ha! Ok, so I laughed at the unintended message of this card even before I read about your DH's reaction. Guess I've spent too much time with the guys too.

It is really cute, though, as long as the recipient either wouldn't "get it"...or would appreciate "getting it"!

  19. My husband LOVED the card. Gave him a nice chuckle and he usually just rolls his eyes at my cardmaking and blogging.

I think it's fantastic. I still haven't used YoYo Yellow and I've had my stamp spots for 5 years!

  20. Yes, they are all alike - mine also giggled and thought it was amusing for all the wrong reasons. BUT, I like yellow and like the card as well. I think it is clever word play - so there, that's the difference between male and female brains nicely illustrated!

  27. ROFL, love the card but love the story even more (even though I saw it coming!). Given the other's reactions I think it must be a perfect man's card, it's always nice to make a bloke laugh!
