CAS70 Quotes, Verses, and Sayings

This is the second post for today. To see the tutorial on precise placement of images, please scroll down!

The CAS70 Challenge this week is to make a quote or saying the focal point of your card. I got a little carried away with this one, so I made three.

First up, a patriotic card with a few layers but still very CAS. The flag image is a photo sticker, and the pledge is stamped with Staz-on on vellum.

Next, a bit of lace makes the ground on this simple card using Happy Harmony, one of the best sets StampinUp has ever made.

Finally, an even simpler card that uses a repeated graphic to reinforce the message of the sentiment. This is my favorite stamp from SU's Refuge and Strength set. Isn't its message so comforting?

I just love it when the ideas start popping into my head faster than I can make them. This only happens when I let go of being all perfect and just play. Some ideas work, some don't. When I'm playing, it's all good.

Thanks to Jen for a wonderful challenge. And check out the inspiration cards from the new DT members, guest artist, and Jen herself linked on the first post of the challenge...they ROCK!

  2. I enjoyed these quotes - classy cards again! Particularly love the one with lace - what is normally pretty, maybe risque, in certain situations is rendered smart, a softening additional extra, here.

  3. THESE are pure "awesome-ness"! (is that a word?) Anywho....I know I'm inspired to whip out a few cards now...too bad that I have to go to work today...Pffffft! Working for a living is SERIOUSLY overrated! (of course, it does help pay for my stamping/scrapping addiction! LOL!!)

THanks for all the inspiration, Susan! Sometimes I really NEED it!!

  7. Wow, Susan, beautiful cards today. The beauty created by the vellum message over the flag just took my breath away. Gosh, it's beautiful. I totally agree with you on the Happy Harmony, it's a classic. It looks beautiful in that color, and the ground lace raises the level to elegance. I LOVE the saying on the last card; it really warms my heart, which is what it's supposed to do. THREE cards today! --- I am SO glad when your creativity gets pumped into overtime!

  16. Oh my, oh my, the first one blew my socks off. This is Election day in California, and we are still having Memorial Day images from the service at our new Veteran's Memorial site, which for a town this size (10,000) is over-the-top gorgeous.........as classy as your card, even.

Vellum comes in so many weights and colors. Which to buy? A flag image just came in my mail this afternoon, from the Disabled Vets....... so exciting to have your muse push mine into action!

    Thanks.

  17. Sarah, the pledge card is 6" x 4.75", the lace card is standard 4.25" x 5.5", and the arrow card is smaller, randomly cut down because it looked weird on a standard card. I think it's 3.75 wide, but not sure of the height. If you're desperate, let me know and I'll go measure it.
